American soldier, Elmer F. Peterson, from Harcourt, Iowa. He is 28 years old and served as a Private in Company K, 16th Infantry, 1st Division. The photograph was taken on April 5, 1919, in Moscheim, Germany, by Sergeant Marshall. Peterson's military history includes being drafted on July 25, 1918, and participating in the Argonne Drive with the 1st Division. Prior to the war, he worked as a teamster and expressman. Peterson is of Swedish descent, with his parents being born in Sweden.
