A plaque commemorating Shmuel Yosef Agnon known by the acronym Shai Agnon who was a Jewish Nobel Prize laureate writer one of the central figures of modern Hebrew fiction placed at the entrance to the house in which he was born in the town of Buchach which was once home to a large Jewish community and was annihilated, brutally, by the Germans during the Second World War in Ternopil Oblast (province) in western Ukraine.
