The gothic hasbeen removed about the entrance to make way for a renaissancedoorway so exquisitely beautiful as to be utterly out of harmonywith the general rudeness of the edifice, a work of accomplishedart that ought to have been taken when new and put safely awayin the hall of some museum. Too delicate even to be exposedto the common vicissitudes of the weather, far too delicate to beentrusted to the vandalism of ignorant and careless men, it hasmet its inevitab
