Light trails from rush hour traffic crossing the Mersey Gateway Toll bridge linking Runcorn and Widnes.

Light trails from traffic crossing the Mersey Gateway Toll bridge linking Runcorn and Widnes. Completed and opened in November 2017, the new bridge crossing the River Mersey between Runorn and Widnes replaces the nearby Silver Jubilee Bridge which could not cope with the increased traffic flow and is currently closed for 12 months while repairs are carried out. When it reopens it will also be tolled. While local councillors state it will bring increased prosperity to the region, there are many people who campaign against the tolls and believe it is causing small businesses in the area to close or to move to nearby Warrington where it is free to cross the River Mersey. Warrington has increased congestion and locals refer to the bridge as the Dick Turpin Bridge - Highway Robbery.
