ANATOMY OP THE PHARYNX. 189 The pharynx is composed of three coats: a mucous coat, a fibrouscoat, and a muscular layer beneath. The muscular coat consists ofthe superior, middle, and inferior constrictors; the levatores palati,and the tensores palati, together with the stylo-pharyngei and palato-pharyngei and palato-glossi muscles, a fuller account of which willbe found in the standard works on anatomy (Fig. 72).
