The remaining, later Maastrichtian species of the Western Interior, B. baculus (an immigrant from the Gulf Coast), and its descendants, B. grandis and B. clinolobatus have, in contrast, a simple suture (Fig. 29E), comparable to that of the B. ohtusus- B. perplexus group. As mentioned above, Pseudobaculites natosini from the Upper Campanian and Lower Maastrichtian, has a complex suture characteristic of the genus. Details of the Baculites succession of the Indo-Pacific and European regions are less precisely known than those of the US Western Interior. Matsumoto.
