An Italian storta,Venice(?),circa 1550. Curved,single-edged blade cut with a full-length fuller below the back edge on one side,inlaid with a mark on one side. Iron hilt including moulded quillon and knuckle-guard. The pommel formed of two parts joined by a brazed seam and retaining its original grip formed of longitudinal straps of horn,the front and back alternately inset with strips of fluted gilt-brass.
