At a meeting held May 19, 1823, a building committee waschosen, and $500 raised towards procuring the frame of a newmeeting-house, to be located on Corser hill, on laud purchasedfrom Eev. Ebenezer Price. The committee consisted of Dea. Enoch Little, Capt. JohnFarmer, Capt. Joseph Ames, Benj. • T. Kimball, Capt. J. , Capt. Abraham Burbank, Geo. T. The committee was instructed to employ those who would belikely to purchase pews ; to obtain as much money as they couldby subscription; to hire money, if necessary; to sell the pews atauction ; reserving the exclusive jurisdiction of the house to theWesterly Eeligious Society forever, it being understood that thehouse shall never be opened to preachers of any denominationor persuasion whatever, differing in religious principles from thesociety and church now about to build the house, unless invitedby the officiating minister or assessors of the society.
