DIEGO—Chief Aviation Electrician’s Mate Randy Griffeth Jr. stands with the amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island’s (LHD 8) duty section five, and salutes the national ensign during a ceremonial bell ringing to commemorate the 100-year anniversary of the end of World War I. Bell ringing ceremonies were held throughout the Department of the Navy to remember the brave men and women who served and paid the ultimate price in the Great War.
