View SW of Men an Tol holed stone, Bosullow Common, West Penwith, Cornwall, associated with folklore, healing rituals and divination. It may once have been the porthole entrance to a megalithic burial chamber, but the date and origins of the setting are uncertain. This arrangement of three stones in a line dates back to at least AD1825 when it was reported on by W. Cotton; W. C. Borlase's published plan of 1754 suggests (in error?) that one of the pillars was in a different position. Two brass pins were placed crosswise on top of the holed stone and answers to questions divined by their movements. Children with rickets, people with ague and other maladies crawled, or were passed, through the hole in hope of a cure.
