Jonathan Hutchinson (1828-1913), British physician. Hutchinson worked and carried out research in a wide range of medical disciplines, including ophthalmology, dermatology, pathology, venereal disease, and oral medicine. He studied at St Bartholomew's Hospital in London, practising at a wide range of London hospitals during his career. Hutchinson became an expert on syphilis, and also lectured on gout, leprosy, and diseases of the tongue. He held numerous presidencies of medical societies, including the Royal College of Surgeons of England (1889). Hutchinson was elected Fellow of the Royal Society in 1882. He was knighted in 1908.
