Digital fingerprinting. Forensic scientist using digital fingerprinting technology to examine a US $20 bill. This is the DCS-3 digital workstation for latent fingerprint recording. It includes a high-performance digital camera, high-intensity LED illumination, and image enhancement software. It can also interface with the UK's fingerprint identification system (NAFIS). The DCS-3 is the successor to the DCS-121 system, invented by Esther Neate in 1996 while working for Wiltshire Police. The DCS-3 is used by more than half of the UK's police forces.
