Interlacing arches are decorated with elaborate paintings, in the interior of Timirud Queen Gawhar Shad's mausoleum, built in the 15th century, in Herat, Herat Province, Afghanistan. One of the finest examples of Timurid architecture, the mausoleum is a remnant of a much larger complex which was built under the direction and patronage of Gawhar Shad.
