COVE ship handling simulator. A naval officer uses a voice-recognition system to command a virtual simulation of a ship in the Conning Officer Virtual Environment (COVE) ship handling simulator. The COVE can be programmed to replicate any ship in the Navy with any environmental conditions, allowing conning officers (in charge of controlling the movements of the ship) to practice ship handling skills in a controlled environment. Photographed at the Naval Air Warfare Center Testing Systems Division (NAWCTSD), Port Canaveral, Florida, USA in 2011.
