AMONG the many interestingphases of civic improvementstudied by the Boston Chamberof Commerce party in Europe the pastsummer probably none offered a closerparallel to developments possible atBoston than the treatment of the AlsterBasins at Hamburg. Eor here in theheart of a great city we found a bodyof water nearly two miles in length andfrom one-half to three-quarters of amile in width, lying in a position verysimilar to that of our Charles RiverBasin.
