Sculpture of the spanish writer Luis Astrana 1997 in Alcala de Henares Madrid province Spain. He began to publish in 1948 a monumental biography of Miguel de Cervantes in seven volumes, Exemplary and heroic life of Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra: with a thousand hitherto unpublished documents and numerous period illustrations and engravings, which he finished in 1958 and intended to exhaust the subject, having already published those of Lope de Vega and Quevedo; from the latter he collected and published in addition a very rich eruditely annotated Epistolary. As a Cervantist, he is the apotheosis of the positivist method and his documentation is extensive, overwhelming: a monumental scholarly effort that brings together 1,410 unpublished documents.
