At present I cannot recall the name of any firm offering plants of the pure white variety, but I have seen bunches of it at various ex- hiI)itions every summer of late years. POLLWORTH'S ADDITION. Already about the largest green- house establishment in the state of Wis- consin, the range of C. C. PoIIworth Co., just outside Milwaukee, is be- ing enlarged. The latest addition is a rose house. In the view of the range on this page, this can be seen in the rear, where the single chimney appears. Two more j)lant houses will be added on the left side, according to Mr. Poll- worth 's present plans. DESTBOTINO NEMATODES. Pest Resistant to Treatment. Among flowering plants grown under glass, roses are the most subject to the attacks of nematodes. Among vegeta- bles the trouble comes mainly to toma- toes and cucumbers, but occasionally lettuce is also harmed. The greenhouse market grower handles but a few va- rieties of vegetables, mainly lettuce, cu- cumbers, tomatoes, rhubarb, beets, car- rots, mint, watercress and radishes; the first three only are of major impor- tance. If more varieties were grown, so as to give a better rotation, most of the trouble would undoubtedly disap- pear. Nematodes are resistant to treat- ment. Formaldehyde, calcium cyanamide, carbon bisulphide and several other ma- terials have been used in attempts to clean them out. So far, however, steam sterilization has proved far the most effective method. Experience has proved that if the
