Since that time I made many suchtrips,—one, two or three every summer—and sometimes with a good deal of dis-couragement on account of bad roadsand indifference on the part of the peo-ple in wanting to hear the Gospel. High waters were also a hindrance, forthe fords, both of river and creek, arevery numerous and some of them ex-tremely dangerous after heavy than once were we delayed inreaching appointments because of im-passable fords, but by persistent effortson the part of the valley ministry andthe loyalty of the few members in WestVirginia, we now have more than onehundred members residing in the terri-tory visited by us, embracing sections inHardy, Pendleton and Grant counties re-spectively.
