Tympanicum; Tympanoliyale. caroticus dem rromontorium an, biegt sich aber unten längs dieser Rinne medialwärts um und legt sich mit seinem medialen Rande dem Basioccipitale und Basisphenoid an. Es ändert demnach den Sulcus caroticus in einen Kanal, ganz analog wie dies bei Pteropus ge- schehen kann (vgl. Fig. 27); Es ist nicht mit dem Schädel verwachsen. Bei allen andern Schädeln, welche ich untersucht habe [M. te- fradactyla L., temmincki Smuts, pentadactyla L., aurita Hodgs., javanica Desm.), fehlt das Entotympanicum. Es kann jedoch, beson- ders im reduzierten Zustande von M. tricuspis^ bei der Maceration leicht verloren gehen. Die vordere obere Wand der l'aukenhöhle, an welcher sich in andern Fällen öfters das Alisphenoid beteiligt, wird (bei M. Java-.
