Indian or one-horned rhinoceros and tourists on elephant safari in Chitwan National Park, Nepal. Poaching, mass tourism and climate change are endangering the rhino population in Nepal. Surviving poaching, habitat decline and wildlife trafficking, Nepal's one-horned rhino population is currently facing changes to its living environment due to rapid warming of the Earth's atmosphere. New invasive plant species, favored by rising temperatures, have replaced the rhinos' favorite forage, and animals are increasingly seen wandering the streets as a tourist attraction. There are also cases of animals being electrocuted or poisoned by farmers, who are afraid of losing their crops.
