A traditional flat-roofed house on the road from Kargil into the Zanscar valley. Wood for fuel and hay are stored on the roof and there is a pile of cow and yak dung cakes for fuel. The flat roof and outdoor storage reflects the very low rainfall. Chortens, stupas in the foreground and a horse, probably used as a load carrier wanders past. Note the newly installed electricity.
