Janssen's photo revolver. Artwork showing some of the dics and movement mechanisms within Jules Janssen's (1824-1907) photo revolver. This instrument was invented to capture the 1874 transit of Venus. Janssen took his photo revolver to Japan, where he took 48 exposures at one-and-a-half second intervals of the transit.
