He has seen thetrails of the trapers and hunters give place for railroads andvehicles, the cabins and garden patches succeeded by comfortablehouses and board fields of waiving grain, the additions ofchurches, school houses, and every other conceivable institution. In 1846 Mr. Niblick engaged in the boot and shoe business,being then twenty years old. This business he was engaged inuntil 1866, having been more than successful in building up tradeand a reputation of honesty, that has been beneficial to him invarious ways ever since. That reputation has been worth moreto him than all the gold in the universe.
