Discovery and its external fuel tank and twin solid rocket boosters are moved over a period of 6 hours using a crawler-transporter. Discovery was part of NASA's Space Shuttle program. It flew 39 missions over a period of 26 years, being retired from service in March 2011. These preparations were for a November launch for its final mission, STS-133. This launch was later abandoned, and the rescheduled mission took place from 24 February to 9 March 2011.
