Cactus Mammillaria bocasana photographed in September after flowering has finished. The fruit has formed in its characteristic spiral formation and the seeds have nearly ripened in their pods. This plant is 11cm across and 8cm high, and is greenhouse grown in a 10 cm terracota pot. Bocasana is a clump forming, spherical, blue-green cactus, with white, hair-like radial spines, up to 2 cm long, and reddish brown hooked central spines up to 1 cm long. This particular plant has creamy white flowers. The fruit is cylindrical, rosy red in colour and up to cm and contains many tiny black seeds.
