In this manner, the institution haskept apace with the development of the times, and we feelassured that but a glance at the following will reveal theopportunity for practical instruction which is SECTION OF WOOL CARDING AND SPINNING ROOM. WOOL PREPARING, CARDING, AND SPINNINGLABORATORIES The two rooms in which the practical work of woolen yarnmanufacture is carried on are most admirably laid out for the pur-pose intended. One of the rooms is devoted to the dusting, burrextracting and mixing of the wools, which is accomplished by theuse of the Wm. Schofield improved willow, the C. C. Sargents burrpicker and the Wm. Schofield mixing picker. The other room is 34 devoted to carding, spinning, twisting and reeling. The machineryemployed consists of two sets of cards, one 4S-inch Furbiish, and theother 6o-inch Gessner, both equipped with the latest-improved feedsof the Apperly and Bramwell make; one small Torrance samplingcard for the making of fancy mixes; a 400-spindle self-acting mule,Piatt pattern Furlnish make; floor and traverse grinders, Furbushand Roy make.
