The re- ception room, where the patronesses stood between the top of the stairway and the entrance to the ballroom, was tastefully, not lavishly, adorned. The palms were perfect specimens. Their selection evidently was made with care. There was a touch of color, scarce more; just enough to heighten the effect of the handsome gowns. The baJlxoom is a beautiful room in itself. The decorations were of palms, ferns, azaleas, rhododendrons and spring flowering bulbs. Colored electric fountains and wild smilax lent their aid to enhance the loveliness of the scene. So admirably was the ma- terial arranged that the assembly ball committee, who know what's what as well as who's who, pronounced it the best decoration that had ever been arranged for this historic event. Various Notes. Berger Bros, have made an advan- tageous sale of their lease of the build- ing at 140 and 142 North ThirteMitlt street. Terms of the sale include giv- ing possession March 25. The firm, who are extremely successful, will find new quarters immediately.
