When the summer heat breaks in the late afternoon, tourists and locals take to the streets of Sitges to do some shopping and socialize with friends and neighbors. Here, two women smoke and talk outside a cafe while children in the strollers take a nap. To the left, a group of men break the afternoon heart with some cold beers. The street scene is especially busy during Fiesta Mayor when there are many street vendors selling t-shirts and other goods to recognize the annual festival in celebration of the patron saint, St. Bartolomeu. The Fiesta Mayor includes music, dance and parades, including a spectacular firework display which can be seen from all over the village. If you are fortunate to own a boat, the fireworks can be seen offshore.
