A full length portrait of Marie Taglioni on stage in 'La Gitana' --- Marie Taglioni, Comtesse de Voisins ( 1804 – 1884) was an Italian ballet dancer. She was one of the most celebrated ballerinas of the romantic ballet era, performing at Her Majesty's Theatre, London and the Théâtre de l'Académie Royale de Musique (Paris Opera Ballet.) Some credit her as being the first ballerina to truly dance en pointe.
