JOHN MADEJSKI ACADEMY, READKING, RG2 8AF, UNITED KINGDOM, ARCHITECT JAMES BRITTAIN, The John Madejski Academy in Reading was the very first British government ?Schools for the Future? exemplar to be built in the UK. It opened in early 2008 and quickly became the design benchmark for a plethora of other new secondary and higher education schools and campuses throughout the UK. The innovative ?kit of parts? design solution by Wilkinson Eyre ARCHITECTs provides a stimulating and attractive educational environment suited to new learning methodologies. The idea of repeatable pods and connecting agoras and walkways to deconstruct traditional school layouts has proved highly successful and has been has become part of a new school building lexicon.
