Day of the Dead procession 2005 from Olvera Street into Paseo de la Plaza, oldest part of Los Angeles, Southern California

Dia De Los Muertos celebrated 1st and 2nd December. The first is when the spirits of children are believed to return, the second when adults come back. All ages and walks of life are represented in these processions as they are in death. Conch shells are used to represent water and wind two of the four elements. Olvera Street and Paseo de la Plaza are part of El Pueblo de Los Angeles.
