Ankerite is a carbonate of calcium, manganesium, iron and manganese, chemical formula CA(Fe,Mg,Mn)(CO3)2. The rhombohedral crystals are brown-yellow, with white crystals of calcite protruding. Closely related to dolomite, this sample is from Goldbergwerk in the Eiffel of West Germany.
