A slender branching winter annual growing to a height of 0 or 8 inches with very small yellow flowers and narrow flat seed pods about three-eighths of an inch in length. It is very abundant some seasons on stubble, attracting a good deal of attention. It often ripens its seed before ploughing for summer-fallow is done.
