Crecelius has resignedas superintendent of power of theCleveland (Ohio) Railway and willbe head of a new engineering firm toengage in consulting engineering, con-struction and operation of properties. Mr. Crecelius has been with theCleveland Railway as power superin-tendent since 1910. Previous to that heheld the same position for two yearsunder the receivers who operated theCleveland traction lines. From 1900 to1906 he was electi-ical engineer for theUnited Railways, St. Louis, and for ayear following that was associated with. L. P. CRECELIUS the Public Service Corporation of NewJersey. He has become well known toengineers throughout the country forhis original work in the design of elec-trical equipment, in particular 60-cyclerotary converters. He holds a largenumber of patents covering types ofrail bonds and methods of bonding, andhas done much original work in thedesign of boiler settings and the oper-ation of bailer plants. Mr. Crecelius was one of the first torecognize the desirability of the pur-chase of coal upon a heat value basiswith deductions for excessive amountsof sulphur and ash. The ClevelandRailways coal contract, which wasdrawn up by him, has been copied bymany other companies through thecountry. Another innovation in Cleve-land during his tenure of office was theextensive use of the reinforced concretetrolley pole designed by Mr. Creceliusand copied in hundreds of differenttowns and cities. Mr. Crecelius wasamong the first to make a careful studyof the question
