Island Madonna del Monte in Venice Italy

The island Madonna del Monte, aka Madonna del Rosario, is a small island in the Venice lagoon, located on a canal that links Burano and Murano. It housed a monastery in the middle ages but then lay abandoned for centuries. Another monastery was founded in the 18th century but was demolished by Napoleon. In the 19th century it was used for gunpowder storage. Water erosion is seeing this little island disappearing at a rapid rate.
