Cross-section illustration of the transmission of visual information. The light beam enters the eye, from the pupil to the retina, where photoreceptors transform the light information into an electrical signal which goes via the optic nerve. Some information crosses the brain’s horizontal axis at the optic chiasma, then all the visual information arrives at the lateral geniculate bodies, cerebral relays which transmit visual information to other neurons, which then transmit the information to the primary, left and right visual cortexes.
