Terracotta figures as found in the pits of the Emperor Jingdi at the Han Yang Ling Museum in Xian in China.


The haunting masses of 2000 year old half buried or half excavated terracotta figures in one of the pits of the tumulus of Emperor Jingdi behind the figures are the pots that held food to supposedly sustain the figures journey to the afterlife Ten pits are now open to visitors at the Han Yang Ling Museum where glass floors over the pits allow visitors to see the relics in the place where they were originally discovered and while archeological excavation is ongoing
