The Cut, or man made channel to the sea, at Seaton Sluice in Northumberland, England UK
The Cut is a channel excavated in 1763 between Seaton Sluice harbour and the sea to avoid the problem of the old harbour entrance silting up. The Cut was used primarily by ships carrying coal from the port. The coal trade declined when better shiipping facilities became available at nearby Blyth and on the Tyne in the mid 1800s.
