Top view of Amman, Jordan with 2-nd century Roman Theatre and Odeon Theatre, on Hashemite Plaza at the foot of Jabal Al-Joufah

The Roman Theatre dates back to 2nd-century Roman Empire. One of the most recognizable landmarks in Amman, which was called Philadelphia back in the Roman days. The vast and steep amphitheater could accommodate around 6,000 visitors. It is built into the hillside and is facing north to keep the sun rays off the spectators.
