Damaged Road Along 69. Original caption: Rough, broken-up 18 foot concrete pavement and inadequate shoulders on US 69 south of McAlester, between Savanna and Kiowa, Oklahoma. These miles of concrete pavement were constructed in 1924 and are obsolete for the 3,500 vehicles per day using this highway in 1950. This section of highway also extends along the east side of the US Naval Ammunition Depot from which installation considerable ammunition is hauled to US ports via truck transport over this road. State: Oklahoma.
