The department at pres-ent consists of two steam fireengine companies and two pressure on the water mainsof sixty pounds to the squareinch is sufficient to give the de-partment all the water they re-quire for fires under ordinary cir-cumstances, and to throw streamsover the highest buildings in theplace, and it is but rarely that theengines are called into service.
