Total Solar Eclipse, 1919

A total solar eclipse occurred on May 29, 1919. Two expeditions, led by Sir Frank Watson Dyson and Sir Arthur Eddington, used the eclipse to measure the position of stars near the Sun to verify the bending of light by its gravity - a prediction made by Albert Einstein's theory of general relativity.
