In drying it loses about55 per cent, of its weight; other processes reduce theweight further, until finally the yield of fibre is onlyabout 51 per cent, of the weight of the green other words, the farmer-grower will be happy if fromhis 800 stones (, 5 tons) of pulled flax he now is ableto bring to market just 50 stones of fibre.
