Sarsen stones of the West Kennet Avenue, Avebury, re-erected by Alexander Keiller, looking NNW as the double row runs uphill towards the stone circles

Looking NNW at stones of the West Kennet Avenue as it climbs the hill towards the Avebury henge monument and stone circles. A double row of stones once ran south-eastwards for miles () from the henge's southern entrance, along the valley between the Ridgeway and Waden Hill, to the wood and stone circles of the Sanctuary on Overton Hill. About a third of the Avenue's stone holes were located and marked by concrete posts or re-erected stones by Alexander Keiller in the 1930s.
