He had two sons,Lawrence and John. Theformer married Mildred Warnerand had three children, John,Augustine and Mildred. Augus-tine, the father of George, firstmarried Jane Butler, who borehim four children, two of whom,Lawrence and Augustine, reachedmaturity. Of six children by hissecond marriage, George was theeldest, the others being Betty,Samuel, John Augustine, Charlesand Washington, the father of George, diedin 1743, leaving a large landed property. To hiseldest son, Lawrence, he bequeathed an estate onthe Patomac, afterwards known as Mount Vernon,and to George he left the parental residence.
