They are all of religious themes andtogether, as they are here, they seem made as a com-plete set. The work is in high relief and there aremany figures in each composition which embodysuch themes as the scenes and incidents in the lifeof Christ just prior to the Crucifixion and, indeed,afterward. A remarkable piece of wood-carvingis the Last Supper, with the Disciples about thetable. There is the Descent from the Cross, andthere is one representing the crowning of the Courtesy of M. Vose, for an ex-hibition commemorating the fifty-eighth anniversaryof the establishment in business of their father, Morton Vose, of Providence. The invitationsissued for this exhibition are in the form of a hand-somely printed and illustrated booklet, with a histor-ic al outline of the Barbizon school, portraits of Corot,Daubigny, Millet, Uupre, Rousseau, Troyon andDiaz, and brief biographical sketches.
