Hydroseeding

Hydroseeding (or hydromulching) is a planting process which utilizes a slurry of seed and mulch. The mulch consists of recycled paper pulp and sawdust (biodegradable cellulose). The slurry is transported in a tank trunk and sprayed over prepared ground in a uniform layer. The mulch in the hydroseed mixture helps maintain the moisture level of the seed and seedlings. The slurry often has other ingredients including fertilizer, tackifying agents, green dye and other additives. Hydroseeding is most commonly used to seed grass, but it has also been used to spread mixtures of wildflower and tree seeds especially on difficult or rocky slopes. Midwest USA
