The constitution drawnup by this committee was submitted to the tribesfor their approval. The Chickasaw legislature rejected the planbecause it provided for representation in propor-tion to the population. That tribe, being smallerthan some of the other tribes, favored giving eachtribe equal power in the legislative body. Thisaction of the Chickasaws defeated the Okmulgeeconstitution.
