The push cars were distributed by the work cars the daybefore changing. The men and tools were taken to their sta-tions by the work cars early on the day of change. At quittingtime the tools were collected and taken to the next days men were sent home in special cars. After the first sub-urban line was changed one work car was changed, and byusing two cars of different gages, the men and tools could betaken to any point of the work. At the signal to start changing, each gang tried to see whichcould be the first one ready for cars. Actual working timewas kept for each gang on each day. At switches the bolts inthe rods were removed and the switch point moved over il/2ins. to holes previously drilled. The bolts were then replaced.
