Would you advise me to use, for hot water heating in the greenhouse, pipe that. has been used as gas pipe! Do you think it would cause an odor in the houses and, if so, do you think this would be injurious to the plants? G. C. S. However, it will be necessary to be absolutely sure that the inside of the pipe is free from tar, for if there is any considerable amount of deposit it will hinder the circulation, while even a slight coating would lessen the amount of heat radiated by the pipe. I have known of cases where gas pipe has been nearly choked with tar. If the pipe is much rusted, this also would check radia- tion. SIZE AND SLANT OF PIPES. I am building a greenhouse, 28x100. The side walls will be six and one-half feet high and will contain three feet of concrete and three and one-half feet of glass. The east end will be glass; the west end will be attached to the service building. The ridge will be thirteen feet nine inches high. I shall use about 1,760 feet of 2-inch pipes, arranging them along the side walls, below the glass, as shown in the enclosed diagram. There will be four 2-inch flows and four 2-inch returns along each side wall and along the east end wall to the door in the center. The boiler will be placed in a pit. What temperature could I maintain with such piping, when the outside t
